Message:Hello,
James B Woodruff retired and deceased is my grandfather. I was fairly young when he passed away and regret not knowing him as well as I would have liked. This may be a long shot but is there a way I can come into contact with some officers who knew him? It would be great to hear some stories. Thank you very much.

Forinformational purposes only; on a recent trip to Texas A & M while driving in College Station I was stopped and written a citation for speeding. I handed the officer my Tx driver's license and my HPD retired officers id. Just letting other retired officers know to be aware of College Station.

Operation Lone Star-Texans Support
Friday, December 13, 2013

On behalf of Operation Lone Star-Texans Supporting Our Troops I want to thank the members of HPROA for your continued support of our organization and our troops who are in harm's way.  With your support we have mailed more care packages to military personnel in Afghanistan this year than ever before. Special thanks to many folks who approach me at every meeting with a cash donations, sometimes quite substantial.  And to Nelson Zoch, Ray Collins and Fred Walschberger, who have introduced me to other organizations who now support us. To the entire membership, thank you for the cash donations as well as the food and hygiene items.

To the retiree who placed a $100 bill in the donation box during the most recent meeting, thank you, My Friend.

I recently received the following e-mail from a Gunnery Sergeant assigned to Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, Afghanistan

"In the past two days I have received two packages from your organization. I wanted to take the time to express my gratitude for your support.  I haven't heard of your organization, and I am unsure of how you received my name.  I am glad that someone passed my name to you folks.  I opened the boxes and shared with the Marines your goodies you have provided and they are appreciative as well.

Once again, on behalf of Lima Company 3/7, I would like to thank you for your support.  You are a fine organization that understands patriotism and what it takes to maintain the freedom of our beloved country. It is people like you that helps us to realize that we are not alone in these endeavors."

Respectfully,
GySgt J.P., Lima Company 3/7

The support from HPROA makes that last sentence possible
Merry Christmas and be safe.
