Secretary's Report and Treasurer's Report:
· Motion by Ed Brossman, 2nd by Edwin Salinas to accept the reports as printed. No discussion. Voice Vote. Motion Carried.
Board Meeting Report - Jack Miller:
· Gary Blankinship was unable to be our guest at this meeting because of the Rodney Johnson trial but will attend our June meeting.
· Member Allen Fletcher, District 130 State Representative, thanked HPROA for their support. Stated he and Senator Dan Patrick were pro law enforcement.
· Recognized members of Class 4. Ed Brossman stated he and about 7 others were still standing.
· Bi-Laws state a Nominating Committee and Election Committee Chairmen should be appointed in May prior to the August election.
o Nominating Committee Chairman - W. G. Eickenhorst.
o Election Committee Chairman - Ed Campbell.
· Board Members up for reelection have agreed to run again. Any members interested in holding a Board position are invited to contact a member of the Nominating Committee.
Executive Director - Bill Elkin:
· Pension Board did not meet today.
· John Lawson with HPOPS stated nothing of consequence is happening at this time.
· New Pension Chairman in Austin feels it is his responsibility to oversee all State pension systems. HPOPS disagrees.
· Some Phase Down Officers have encountered problems with keeping the City of Houston's $5,000 Life Insurance policy at 45 cents per month. Recommended Officers check to see if the deduction is being taken out of their checks.
· Some members lost the 3.12% COLA increase due to the Medicare and HMO Blue Insurance increase.
· HPOPS posted the new insurance rates on their website.
· Still working on a new design and the cost for a wallet size retired badge for those retirees interested.
· Thank you notes were received from the families of Kandy Willoughby, David Holub, and Gerald "Stoney" Burke.
PAC Committee - Steve Rayne:
· In the next several weeks the PAC will review the political candidates and decide which candidates to support.
· Please contact Steve if you have items to donate to the Crockett Reunion Silent Auction.
Treasurer Report - Jim St.John:
· We are doing alright as there is over $266,000 in the HPROA account.
Membership Committee - Ed Mitchell:
· We have 9 new members and 10 reinstatements.
· 20 members were dropped because they had not paid the annual membership fee. Most of those members just forget to send in their fee. Requested help contacting those members.
Website Committee - Jim Ashby:
· 7,200 website visitors last month.
· The increases in insurance premiums are posted on the front page of the website.
· If you are having e-mail problems contact Ashby at info@hproa.com or at 281-498-3834.
· The website Username and Password is available to all members by contacting the Webmaster by e-mail at info@hproa.com.
The Retired Badge - Nelson Zoch:
· The Paper is in the mail.
· Thanked Wayne Wendell for his first time contribution.
· Invited any member to write an article appropriate for our group.
· Apologized to D.A. Gibson for leaving his name off his article.

Entertainment Committee - D. A. Miller:
· Complemented Nelson Zoch on the Retired Badge but due to publication dates it is often difficult to provide information about upcoming events in a timely manner.
· The Crockett Reunion will be Saturday, June 28, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Crockett Civic Center, Edmundson Drive off Loop 304, next door to the Crockett Motel. The meal will cost $10 and be served at noon. Steve and Vicki Rayne will host. There will also be a silent auction.
· There are 2 new RV Parks under construction in the area.
· The Fredericks Reunion will be held Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Lady Bird Park. There will be 35 reserved RV spaces. More information will be on the Website and in the Retired Badge.
Family Assistance Committee - Forrest Turbeville:
· Correction to the FAC Report. Chester Massey is in the Hampton on Pinegate which is a block off T.C.Jester and the North Loop.
· Please support the Silent Auctions. Every penny goes to our members as needed.
· The sick and shut-in report is on the back table. Please pick one up. The oral report will cover only those added after the list was printed. Family Assistance Reports are updated on the HPROA website.
· Please contact a member of the Family Assistance Committee with information regarding any officer who should to be contacted. Delvin Kendrick, Nelson Foehner and Forrest Turbeville are on the Family Assistance Committee. Turbeville can be reached by cell phone at (713) 319-5466.
Good /Welfare of the Association:
· Nominating Committee Chairman W.G. Eickenhorst stated the Committee Members are A.L. Blair, Fred Eichholtz, Victor Landa, E.J. Smith and James Pavalock.
· Nelson Foehner stated he recruited 3 new members this month and thanks to the new Recruiting New Members Program he can take a pass on his next $75 annual membership fee.
