Recognition of Visitors - Jack Miller:
· Motion by Louis Elliott, 2nd by David Kalich to allow Ted Karis, Liberty Mutual to attend the meeting and make a brief presentation. Voice Vote. Motion carried.
Secretary's Report and Treasurer's Report:
· Motion by Louis Elliott, 2nd by Zoch to accept the reports as printed. No discussion. Voice Vote. Motion Carried.
Board Meeting Report - Jack Miller:
· Discussion regarding possibility of moving the Conroe Reunion to the Police Academy or another location. The second option would be doing away with this reunion and having a meal at a general membership meeting.
Executive Director - Bill Elkin:
· The Pension is @ 3.43 Billion. A 2.3% increase in May.
· 46 have retired to date in 2008. 5 are scheduled to retire in May.
· HPROA Membership has increased from 884 members on January 1, 2003 to 1,366 members as of May 5, 2008.
· Some of the City's Medicare Advantage Plans have annual prescription limits. We will be researching this and looking into remedies.
· The Legislative season is becoming more active. More political functions have been attended prior to the opening sessions.
· Thank you letters were received from District 150 Representative Debbie Riddle, District 28 Representative John Zerwas, and Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst.
· TMPA Members who have the Firearms Insurance will receive a $4,000 Accidental Death and Dismemberment Benefit and a discount card for health services for prescriptions, vision care, hearing care, chiropractor services and optional discount on dental care.
· Gary Rowe, Houston Badge Company, is preparing two retired badge prototypes. Discussion regarding various retired badge designs.
· Check the expiration date on your Firearms Certificate.
· Thank you letters were also received from the families of Rick Massey and Walter Yargo.
Treasurer Report - Jim St.John:
· All the financial information is in the Treasurer Report in your copy of the minutes.
PAC Committee - Steve Rayne:
· One political contribution was made in May.
· An accounting of the Annual PAC Meeting to discuss political candidates will be in the July report.
Membership Committee - Ed Mitchell:
· We have 18 new and reinstated members.
· 23 dropped members. Most of these members just forget to send in their membership fee. Any suggestion and help is welcome. There is power in numbers.
Website Committee - Jim Ashby:
· 6,488 website visitors last month.

· The website Username and Password is available to all members by contacting the Webmaster by e-mail at info@hproa.com.
The Retired Badge - Nelson Zoch:
· Please submit any article now as we are in the process of getting the paper together.

Family Assistance Committee - Forrest Turbeville:
· The sick and shut-in report is on the back table. Please pick one up. The oral report will cover only those added after the list was printed. Family Assistance Reports are updated on the HPROA website.
· There are sick and shut in Members we do not know about. Please contact a member of the Family Assistance Committee with information regarding any officer we need to contact. Delvin Kendrick, Nelson Foehner and Forrest Turbeville are on the Family Assistance Committee. Turbeville can be reached by cell phone at (713) 319-5466
Entertainment Committee - D. A. Miller:
· The Crockett Reunion will be Saturday, June 28, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Crockett Civic Center, Edmundson Drive off Loop 304, next door to the Crockett Motel. The noon meal will be catered by Member Harvey Trigg at a cost $10 per plate. Steve and Vicki Rayne will host. There will also be a silent auction.
· There is information on the website relative to accommodations in Crockett as provided by the Crockett Chamber of Commerce.
· The Fredericks Reunion will be held Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Lady Bird Park. There will be 35 reserved RV spaces. More information will be on the Website and in the Retired Badge.
Good/Welfare of the Association:
· Jack Miller stated the HPROA Bi-laws require nominations for open Board Member positions be held in June.
· Nominating Committee Chairman is W.G. Eickenhorst. The Committee Members are A.L. Blair, Fred Eichholtz, Victor Landa, E.J. Smith and James Pavalock.
· Those Members running for reelection to the Board are:

· Miller called for nominations from the floor for the open Board Positions. Each position was announced three times. There were no nominations from the floor
· Ballots will be mailed to all HPROA members with the name of the nominee listed for the position for which they are running, including space for write-in candidates.
· Forrest Turbeville has a supply of the old style plastic identification folders.
· St.John stated there is information on the website regarding members who may wish to car pool to the meetings or reunions.
· There will be a luncheon at the August Election General Meeting.
