She is trying to get on the liver transplant list and she will she her specialist again on 11-18-07 to see what is her next step will be. Please keep Doug and Paula both in your daily prayers..

PATTI GAMBINO:  Patti underwent back surgery this morning.  We visited with her by phone and she stated that she was in surgery about 3 hours and that the surgery was more extensive than originally anticipated.  Initially, she was expected to be walking late this afternoon and be released to go home Friday.  Now, she has to lay on her back for 24  hours before she can get up.  Then, when she is released she will be wearing a back brace of 90 days and initially will only be able to sit for 20 minute periods before either walking some or laying down for a period of time.  Patti is in Memorial Woodlands hospital in Room 4224 and her phone mumber is 281-466-6424.  Sal is also having to go to therapy for a pulled muscle in his back so remember them both in your prayers that all will go well and Patti will be pain free and home soon.

Wondrak.  Please remember her in your daily prayers.

CHARLES E. REYNOLDS - (10-20-07 - Forrest) We receicved a phone call from Charley who stated he went to Spring Branch Medical Center (10-02-07)to get a "needle" biopsy of his lung. This revealed that his lung was cancerous and the doctors began screening his body for cancer in any other part of his body. The Drs did not find cancer in any part of his body but did find that his aorta artery was about ready to rupture. Drs delayed his cancer treatment and repaired the aorta problem and sent him home to gain his strength back. He has been on oxygen for some time. He is now seeing his cancer doctor but they are not sure he is strong enough to have surgery to remove the portion of the lung that is cancerous. Will keep us updated as to when the Drs will do the lung surgery. Keep Charley in your daily prayers..

ROBERT L. OLSON - (10-14-07 - Forrest) Visited with Bob by phone and he stated that he has battled bladder and prostate cancer over the past several years and is now cancer free. Stated that the radiation treatments for the cancer has caused him other health problems. His current problem is a back injury that he suffered before he retired when an "outlaw" was attempting to escape arrest and ran over him. Now arthritis has set in. He has had electrodes implanted in his back on each side of his spine but it has not relieved the pain. He says that other than the pain and living on pain medications, he has been Blessed, but would appreciate everyone's prayers. Bob has had his plate pretty full for a long time and lets all remember him in our daily prayers

Sherwood Jett came home today, 10/13.  He will be needing a little cheering up if anyone wants to call.  281 385 2114.  He is pretty weak and has a lot of problems but he seems to be healing slowly, but healing nevertheless.  Thanks for prayers. jj
E-Mail from Jwanette Jett

RALPH   "SPEEDY"  GONZALES:  Ralph’s daughter, Yvonne, reports that Ralph’s low level of potassium caused his kidneys to shut down.  He was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital, Cooley Building, where he was placed on dialysis.  His physicians felt that they could correct the situation and hopefully jump start his kidneys and get his potassium level back up.  His phone number is 832-355-9710, ask for him by name and he is able to talk to family and friends.  Give him a call and give him some encouragement and we will all pray that the medical staff can resolve his health problems and send him back home.

ELAINE  FOLTZ:   Larry Foltz reports that his wife, Elaine, had surgery Monday, Oct. 1, where a "trach" tube was placed into her throat and a feeding tube inserted. Elaine is still in ICU but likely will go home Thursday or Friday.  She has not yet learned to talk with the tube inserted so all communication is hand written.  She is fine and doing well.  The doctors are still assessing her cancer to determine the best course of treatment.  Larry expresses his appreciation to all for their prayers and concern.  Continue to keep Elaine in your daily prayers.

SHERWOOD JETT:  Jeanette reports that Jett is at the rehab of San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.  He has developed some pressure sores on his broken leg and few other problems.  He is exhausted from all of the rehab treatments but has retained his good humor.  Sherwood is in Room 152 and his phone number is 281-420-8640.  He can be reached from 11A-2P and after 5PM.  Jett would like to hear from some of his buddies so give him a call and lift him up and keep praying that he would have healing and rapid recovery.

DOYAL GREEN:  Some good news at the Green household.  Judy reports that the treatments have reduced the cancer by 80% and this means that they can mow be treated at MD Anderson.  Doyal will continue his weekly chemo until they can get him into MD Anderson for 4 days of testing, bone marrow biopsy and remove his cath and install a super cath.  Once this is done and as a room becomes available, he will be admitted for a 3-4 weeks stay.  He will have lots of chemo, bone marrow collection, separating the good from the bad, the good being frozen until he is in full remission.  His bone marrow will then be transplanted back into his system and they will be on their way to full recovery.  Doyal knows it will get worse before it gets better but knows he can make it through this process.  They asked that we continue to pray for positive results from all the tests and that the MD Anderson treatments go well so that Doyal may go into full remission.  Continue to send your e-mails, cards and calls of encouragement.

BETTY LEMOINE:  We visited with Betty this evening by phone; she is an HPD retiree along with her husband, Larry Lemoine.  Betty was assigned to the Juvenile Division for most of her 30 plus years with HPD.  Betty was diagnosed with uterine/ovarian cancer back in 2005 and after surgery and six courses of chemotherapy She was in remission.  Recent test would indicate that it has reappeared and further chemo will be necessary.  Ernie Godfrey made me aware of Betty’s health problem and this evening was my first ever conversation with her.  She was very forthright with me as to her cancer history and has a very positive attitude going  forward with necessary treatment.  If you know Betty or Larry, give them a call of encouragement and let them know, as I did, that we will be lifting our prayers up for Betty that all will go well for her and those who care for her.

ELAINE FOLTZ:  Wife of member Larry D. Foltz, will be admitted to Gulf Coast Medical Center in Wharton Texas on Mon., Oct. 1 where she will received treatments for cancer.  She had PET scan Thursday which should tell the Doctor’s where the cancer is.  In preparation for the treatments, a "trach tube" will be placed in her throat and a "feeding tube" in her stomach.  Larry is not sure as to how the treatments will be administered or how often but has been told that Elaine will be in the hospital for 3 to 5 days this week.  He will update as more definitive information is provided to him.  Continue to pray for Elaine and Larry and they begin what will likely be a lengthy battle ahead.
