Harry,
I want to thank you for your kind words in your e-mail message of 3-02-05 regarding the "work" that we on the Family Assistance Committee have been doing and are continuing to do.
We try really hard to "find as many sick and shut ins" as we can within our "police family". I feel in my heart that we are only touching the tip of the ice berg and there are many more out there that we do not know about that need our help. For this, I am deeply sorry. We have retirees out there that help us very much and report these "sick and shut-in's" to us that otherwise we might not find out about without their reporting those findings to us. We lost a very valuable contact we had in the death of retiree E.C. Rogers. He had the ability and care in finding our "sick and shut ins’" that was unbelievable. We also make the announcement almost at each of our monthly meetings to the general membership to report any "sick or shut in’s" to our Committee. This has also helped us a great deal as we follow up on "each reporting" and call upon that person to try to make his/her life more comfortable if it is in our power to do so.
Our HPROA meetings are the 2nd Thursday of each month at 9:30 A.M. at the Knights of Columbus Hall on E. Whitney. We invite you to come as you will see "some friends you haven't seen in years" there.
Harry thanks again for your kind words and thoughts, and if you have a need of our services, we are just as close as your phone.
Also our thanks go out to Mary, Ralph, Donna, and all who sent their ‘Well Wishes and Thanks” to our committee
May God keep you in good health
Your friend,
Forrest W, Turbeville - Chairman - Family Assistance Committee
