GEORGE R. POWERS - 5-15-08 - We called George's cell phone and it was answered in the Methodist Hospital in San Antonio by (wife) Jackie. George was admitted to the Hospital Monday morning, 5-12-08 with severe back pain in the area of the L-2 Lumbar area. George had kidney cancer in 2004 and had a kidney removed. He was cancer free for 1 1/2 (one and one-half) years. The drugs helped but then they were not effective any more. The cancer and pain came back in the abdomen area., and finally it was determined that the pain was coming from the L-2 Lumbar area. Jackie stated that he is to have surgery tomorrow, Friday 5-16-08, and this surgery is to be an injection of "bone cement" into the L-2 Lumbar to stabilize this area and hopefully releive the pain. She is also hopeful, that if all goes well, she will be able to take him home early next week. Please keep George in your prayers that this proceedure works and that his doctors will be able to cure this cancer in his body forever.
SHERWOOD JETT - 5-1`5-08 - Forrest) Visited with Sherwood by phone and found that he had been in the San Jacinto Hospital for what was described a renal failure and congestive heart failure. He stated that it did not seem that they were not doing him any good, so he just "escaped" and came home. He is doing pretty good and has to see his doctor tomorrow, 5-16-08, for a check up..Keep Sherwood in your daily prayers.
CAROLYN JORDY - (5-15-08 - Bennie to Forrest) Visited also with Bennie by phone and he stated that Carolyn is not any better. He is going to the "facility" today and he feels that they are going to ask him to put her in a "long term care" facility since his insurance for her "care" is about exhausted. He has made application to Medicare for financial aid of her "care" but that he will be financially responsible for her "health care" until Medicare decides to act in their behalf', and it takes some time for this to be confirmed.. Please keep Bennie and Carolyn in your daily prayers for this Medicare aid to come through and also for the comfort and healing of Carolyn.
ELAINE FOLTZ - 5-15-08 (Larry to Forrest) Visited also with Larry and he stated that Elaine was feeling bad due to not having her chemo as scheduled BUT that her blood platelettes were so low that he had to stop the chemo. He also stated that Monday, 5-19-05 that she will start a new type of chemo and will received a treatment each week..Elaine is going to have to have some blood and Larry is going to find out all the particulars on her receiving blood from donors. When this process is finalized he will let us know and asked that then we put out an appeal for blood donors in her behalf. As always keep Elaine and Larry in your prayers.
A.P. SMITH - (5-15-08 - "A.P" to Forrest) - Visited also with "A.P" by phone up in Story, Ark. Reported that he has been feeling pretty good. He did have a spot on his left kidney that the doctors thought that was a tumor. But this spot has not grown any in the past 9 months. He is going to see his heart doctor tomorrow, 5-16-08, for a check up. He had the kidney checked in August of '2007 and will get it checked also. Since it has not grown any in 9 months, the doctors thinks now that it may a cyst. He is still on oxygen at night and a "little bit" sometimes during the day and that he gets "out of breath" rather quickly and easily. Please include "A.P". in your dailly prayers also.
JOHNNY BONDS: We visited briefly with Johnny at 11AM at the hospital and he said he was waiting for his wife to come pick him up and take him home. He sounded great and obviously ready to move on. When I said something to him about getting back on his feet and back to work, he indicated that when he went back to the office, it would be to fill out his retirement papers and sounded like he meant it. He also said that the doctors feel that they were able to remove all of the cancer and that chemo may not be needed but he goes back to the doctor next week and decisions made at that time. His phone number at home is 281-324-2902 and he should be there later this afternoon for those who wish to give him a boost. We praise God for the good news on Johnny and we will continue to pray for his continued recovery and good health.

DAVID MEINEKE: Doug Bostock visited with David by phone Tuesday. David is living in Pennington out of Crockett and recovering from total knee replacement. He is doing well and recovery is coming along well. Keep David in you daily prayers that all will continue to go well for him and that he would heal quickly. R. J. "BOB" FRANCIS (5-13-08 - Kendrick) I received word from Max Lankford that Bob is in the Liberty Health Care Center. I contacted Bob's wife, Norma. She said Bob had been transferred to the Liberty Health Care Center on April 15th. Norma said he is getter weaker both mentally and physically. She said he will acknowledge anything you say but doesn't always comprehend. She said his long term memory seems good but he has little short term memory. The doctors are evaluating how to proceed. The address of the Liberty Health Care Center is 1206 N. Travis, Liberty, TX 77575. Bob is in Room 603. Please keep both Bob and Norma in your prayers.
JOHNNY BONDS - (5-9-08 - Nelson Zock to Forrest) Nelson reports that Johnny had surgery this morning at M.D. Anderson Hospital and had the cancerous kidney removed in a 4 hour surgery proceedure. Drs think they got all the diseased area.. and he is in recovery at this time. It will be a few days before he can have visitors. Nelson will keep us updated as to his progress. Keep Johnny in your daily prayers. UPDATE 5-12-08 Just a F.Y.I. retired Sgt. Johnny Bonds, currently a investigator with the Harris County D.A.'s office is in M.D. Anderson Hosp. , He had surgery Friday 5-9-08 to remove a tumor from his kidney. He is in room P416 and his phone number is 713-834-8596. UPDATE 5 13 08 Nelson Zoch visited with Johnny today and found him ready to get out of the hospital. He had not eaten yet and will have a few days in the hospital. Hoping to eat something soon. He is still very sore, good attitude and wanting to get on with life. Not sure about phone calls. Will get that info in our next update. Please lift Johnny up in your prayers that he would be relieved of pain, heal quickly be homeward bound soon cancer free.

BETTY MADDUX: Wife of J.W. Maddux is in the Garden Terrace Rehab Center recovering from the amputation of her right leg approximately 2 weeks ago. We visited with Betty this morning and she seems to be in good spirits considering the loss of her leg at the knee and a long period of rehab yet to go.. The loss of the leg was due to peripheral vascular disease (poor circulation) and the other bad news is that her left leg is also similarly effected to some degree. She also has some heart problems having had 3 stents prior to the amputation. Betty has been either hospitalized or in a rehab facility for some 7 months now but still maintains a good attitude. She said she has enough phones calls coming in at the present time but gave us her address at 7887 Cambridge, Houston, 77054 so why not pick up a get well card and send it her way and send up your prayers that she might be relieved of any pain and that other health problems can be treated and resolved with medication.

HARRY HALL - (5-2-08 - Forrest) Harry reports that (wife) Virginia, is having arthritis, knee, and stomach problems. He says that he now does most of the driving and that is to the doctors and grocery store. Other than the mentioned ailments, they are doing pretty good. Says to tell all hello.
RICHARD L. LINEBERGER - (5-2-08 - Forrest) We have been reporting on Richard and his health matters over the years. His ill health began in about 1990, with prostate problems which later developed into cancer. He fought this battle for 2 plus years. He has had several strokes and many heart attacks. His heart is still in very "sad" shape and getting worse. If something upsets him, his heart really gets eratic, skips beats and almosts stops. He is getting 4 shots and a "hand full" of pills daily. Most of the medication he is on is for his heart condition and blood pressure. He has in the last 3 to 4 months has developed a "trembling and/or shaking" situation, and Evelyn (wife) states that his "trembling and/or shaking" resembles the way a person with Parkinson-Disease might act along with "rolling his tongue" around in his mouth and when this happens, he is unable to communicate for a while. This "trembling/shaking" does not last long at a time. Evelyn also reports that his mind and thinking processes are beginning to deterrioate at a much faster rate also. Evelyn states that she is appreciative for all the thoughts and prayers. Let us continue to keep both Richard and Evelyn in our daily prayers as "their plate has been full for a long time".
Charles Ford (5-1-2008) wanted everyone to know he is doing much better. He is currently at Sugar Land Rehabilitation Hospital for intense physical therapy. Therapy begins around 8:30 a.m. through 11:30 a.m. and resumes around 1:30 p.m. through 3 p.m. Discharge date unknown at this time.
