JAMES A. SHIRLEY - 2-23-08 - Forrest) Received a phone call from Jim and he reports that he has had the flu and it was bordering on pneumonia. DALE AND BARBARA DUGGER - 2-23-08 - James Shirley - Forrest) James reports that both Dale and Barbara had a pretty bad case of the flu at the same time. ELAINE FOLTZ: We received an e-mail message earlier today from Larry Foltz concerning the health status of his wife, Elaine but he also had a message for all of the other sick and shut-in’s who are fighting their own individual health problems and we share that message as we received it. "I was looking fhru the list of retired officers and spouses in need of medical attention and the need is large. I can feel for these people who are dealing with loved ones with health issues. I want to report that Elaine is home doing well and she has restarted chemo with her last season being on Tuesday, 2-19-08. She seems to be holding her own. With the list of people with health issues so great I can only say that teach and every one is in our prayers and thoughts. We hope this finds everyone in good spirits and keep the faith. There is higher being who is in control even though we don’t always understand his ways. Keep the faith and may GOD bless each and everyone of you and give you peace, comfort, and strength in your hours of need." Let us continue to pray for Elaine and Larry as Elaine continues her chemo treatrments.

WALTER YARGO: (2-21-08) Phil Tippen reports that he had visited with Walter yesterday and in fact, Walter, his wife and Phil went out to eat a bite. Walter is hanging in there with periods of feeling bad and periods of feeling fairly well. He is on medications but is in good spirits. Walter indicated to Phil that he would take phone calls at 281-578-7979 although he may not be able to talk at that moment, leave a message on the recorder or call him to see if he would be up to a visit. Make that call today or whenever you can and share a few minutes with him. Likewise, continue to pray from Walter and his family.

LOUIS ELLIOTT: We failed to note earlier this week that Louis has mended and steadily improving as indicated by his presence at the funeral services for Henry Gerhart last Sunday afternoon. Louis was accompanied by his son, who drove him out there. Louis walks with the aid of a cane, can and does drive but only to the corner grocery. We have a lot of sick folks out there and have lost some close friends lately but it is especially great to see one of ours rebounding and back on his feet. Please pray for his continued good health.

Surgery was performed and half of "Pete's" stomach was removed. After the stomach surgery, Drs found that there was a leakage from his colon, and they did additional surgery to correct the leakage. CAROLYN JORDY - (2-13-08 - Bennie Jordy to Forrest) Received info from Bennie that Carolyn is currently in the Health South Rehab Hospital, 18550 I-45, Shenandoah, TX (south of Conroe, TX) due to her having a stroke. This is an "aggressive therapy" facility. The therapy staff are somewhat pleased with her progress BUT her left arm has some feeling but no movement. The stroke affected the left side of her body. Preliminary tests revealed that she has no sight in the left half of each eye, and when she relaxes, both eyes will "drift" to the right.
Visitors will be welcome in the afternoon after 3:00 P.M.(Monday thru Friday) and Saturday and Sunday visitors are welcome after 1:00 P.M. These hours were set due to her receiving therapy. Please keep both Bennie and Carolyn in your daily prayers.
HEALTH SOUTH REHAB HOSPITAL is located opn the South bound side of I-45 between Hwy 242 and Oak Ridge North.
We are waiting for the ambulance arrangements to be made, dad will be taken to St Luke's for an evaluation. He became very confused yesterday, is much more confused today...it may be something as simple as a B1 deficiency or something quite major. Please pray for him, please pray for grace at the ER and quick treatment this time, and please pray for the dr's to have discerment and clarity when evaluating my father. (E-ial information from Buster and Karen via his daughter, Ann)
CHARLES O. FORD - (Kendrick - 2-11-08) Charlie was readmitted to St. Luke’s Hospital yesterday. He was admitted for tests or as his wife, Barbara, says, because he didn’t have anything better to do. They are requesting no visits or phone calls at this time but do covet our prayers.

CHARLES O. FORD - (Forrest - 2-02-08) We visited with Charlie and his daughter by phone this date. He expects to be moved from St. Lukes Hospital to The First Colony Rehab Center in Missouri City on 2-04-08. His daughter says thanks to all for their concern and prayers
ANDY GEFFERT: Andy was released from Willowbrook Methodist yesterday and is now at home recovering. Andy’s only phone is his cell phone which is out of order. I spoke to his son, Eric, who said he was going to get him another one tonight or tomorrow. Eric reports that Andy is getting around slowly and is no longer in the severe pain that he was dealing with in the hospital. They are not exactly sure what caused the pain but they found a swollen lymph node in the upper leg area that may have somehow caused it. As soon as Andy gets his phone problem resolved and he is ready to take calls, Eric will let us know and we will post that info here. Keep remembering Andy in your prayers that he would continue to improve and heal. UPDATE We visited with Andy at noon today at his home and he advises that he is getting better, still a little weak but does NOT have any pain. He said that he doesn’t move around to much at this time and very slowly when he does. He will have home health care come by to administer therapy during the week. His cell phone is now up and running and he is taking calls at 713-289-4517. Give him a call and continue to pray for his continued recovery to good health.

JACK GUY - 2-1-08 - ( E-mail from Linda - to Forrest) Linda reports that Jack came home from the Hospital 2-1-08, He has to go back every day for them to check his blood level for a few days, and then go back to his family Doctor, Monday, 2-4-08. Says thanks for all who sent up prayers for him. Please continue to pray for his complete and rapid recovery.
CAROLYN JORDY (2-07-08 - E.J. Smith to Forrest) Reports that Carolyn was transferred to the Health South Center (Woodlands) on 2-05-08, which is an "aggressive therapy facility" and is closer to their home. Keep Carolyn and Bennie in your prayers and NO VISITORS for the time being. - (wife of Member Bennie Jordy - Nelson to Forrest) Nelson received info from Jim Coley that Carolyn had a stroke on Friday, 2-1-08, and was taken to Herman Hospital. We spoke with Herman Hospital and they acknowledged that she was in their Hospital but due to protecting the privacy of the patient, was reluctant in giving out much info about her condition. The Hospital did say that she was in stable condition and resting. Please keep Carolyn and Bennie in your daily prayers. UPDATE - 2-02-08 -(8:45P.M. - Forrest) We received a phone call from Bennie Jordy and he stated that Carolyn's stroke was a "major stroke". Drs did an arterialgram on Carolyn (through the groin) all the way to the left side of her brain. Stated that the stroke was caused by a piece of plaque that had turned loose from the carodid artery on the side of her neck and not from a blood clot. Dr did not remove the plaque from her brain, stating that it was "wedged too tight" in the brain and removing it might cause more problems than leaving it in the brain for the time being. Bennie stated that she is completely paralized on her right side. Please keep Carolyn and Bennie in your daily prayers. (UPDATE - 2-04-08 -(8:00P.M. - Kendrick) I visited Carolyn & Bennie at Hermann Hospital today. Carolyn still has paralysis but is able to talk. Bennie said Carolyn is going to be transferred to a rehab facility. He said they are in the process of locating one that is equipped to give the type care she will need and that is closer to their home. He was hopeful that the facility would be identified and she would be transferred later today or tomorrow.
