Continue to pray that he heals quickly and all goes well so he can return home. Patti will be nearby and her cell phone is 281-732-4515.Sal Gambino is currently undergoing abdominal surgery at the Memorial Hermann Woodlands Hospital, 8250 Pinecroft, in the Woodlands. After some 4-5 hours of surgery, the surgeons predict, if all goes well, that he will be in the hospital into the weekend and then should be able to go home. Lift your prayers up for Sal and the surgical staff that surgery will be successful and that post op recovery will be pain free and speedy. An update will be forthcoming after surgery.

CHESTER MASSEY: (UPDATE) Ruth reported last evening that Chester continues to improve. They moved him to another room nearer the nurse’s station, Y-1031 and his phone has changed to 832-355-2514. By the way, he is in St. Luke’s Hospital in the medical center for those who might want to visit him. When you call you will likely speak to Ruth or a family member as Chester is still unable to use the phone. Let’s keep praying for Chester and Ruth as they go through the recovery period. Pray also for the medical staff and caregivers as they watch over Chester. CHESTER MASSEY: (UPDATE) Ruth Massey called this evening to report that Chester is doing very well, looking great, eating well and wants to go home. Ruth said the surgeon was pleased the outcome of the surgery and that it appears that there is good blood flow in the leg. Chester was moved to room Y-1050 and the phone number is 832-355-2523. Ruth stated that he would be taking calls on Wednesday. Let us all continue to pray for Chester’s continued healing and recovery. God hears our prayers. (ORIGINAL REPORT) CHESTER MASSEY:: Cindy Massey reports this evening that Chester underwent surgery today for bypass surgery of the veins in his legs. The surgery began at 8:30AM this morning and ended at 5:30PM this afternoon. Chester had hardly any blood flow in his legs and the veins were replaced by artificial veins from the area of the lower abdomen down through the legs. Doctors reported that Chester does have blood flow now and that he came through it all very well. They anticipate that he will be in ICU for two days and in the hospital for probably 10 days. He is not allowed to have any visitors while in ICU. I failed to obtain the hospital that Chester is in but will get that in our next update. Let us give thanks to God that Chester survived the surgery and continue to pray for his continued and rapid recovery. Nelson Foehner, FAC
CANDICE AND ED WADE: We visited with Candice and Ed Wade by phone. Candice reports that she had surgery Wednesday to remove a spur on toe of left foot. They removed a section of bone and replaced it with titanium implant. Candice was dismissed on the day of surgery and Ed took her home where he is providing care and comfort for the first lady of the Wade household. Although the physicians advised her that she would suffer quite a bit of pain, she has not needed any pain medication since she got home. She will be on crutches for a while as she cannot put any weight on the foot. Ed reports that all of his tests have come back negative and he is feeling good. He still had to deal with the neuropathy due to the chemo treatments but he continues to adjust to that. Continue to pray for Candy that she has a speedy healing process and gets back on her feet and we give thanks to God that Ed is in remission and doing well.

RUBY STONE (Retired Police Woman - and surviving spouse of deceased retired Detective Virgil Stone) (8-24-07) We visited with Ruby by phone and she still has an anemia problem, loosing blood someway in the intestinal track. She goes to the Dr and gets an IV iron infusion which takes about 45 minutes. She gets 8 of these IV's within a month and they usually last about a year. Keep Ruby in your prayers.
VELIA (BELLE) ORTEGA -( Retired Police Woman)(8-24-07 - Forrest)We also visited with Belle by phone and she states that she is not doing really well. She had her first stroke about 7 years ago and then another one a year later. Since then, her mobility has deteriorated gradually. She has fallen several times through the years and at this time she can't walk. She has had her grandson living with her for some time aiding her in her efforts. She will have her granddaughter with her also to help her. Please keep Belle in your daily prayers.
DOYLE GREEN: (8-24-07) Judy reports some good news in that the results of Doyle's first cycle of chemo has diminished his bad protein from 3.6 to 2.5. They need that number to go down to 1.3 for Doyle to go to M.D. Anderson to get double chemo and bone marrow biopsy/transplant. Doyle is dehydrated from too much lasiks so they will cut back on that which will likely cause some swelling to occur again. He had his lst chemo treatment of the 2nd cycle Tues, 8-21, and will get 2nd treatment on 8-23. Hopefully, all will go well. The improvements really indicate that all the prayers are working and they ask that we continue to pray for good results from his treatments and medications.
Keep those phone calls and cards coming in, it is so uplifting for the Green family.

GENE SHEPPARD - (8-16-07 Charlie Pope to Forrest) Received information from Charlie Pope that Gene was now out of the hospital and at his daughters home. Gene's cell phone number is 903-279-7415. We then called Gene and he stated that he was released from the hospital on 8-10-07 and was recuperating at he home of his daughter in Allen, TX.(just north of Plano, TX) Stated he feels good and slowly getting better but still pretty sore. He indicated that he probably would be at his daughter's home for another 2 to 3 weeks, but would probably see his doctor in Dallas again before going home. Keep Gene and his family in your daily prayers for a complete and rapid recovery.
KATIE VAUGHN (9-16-07 - Forrest) We visited at length with John this date and states that Katie is still completely bed ridden.
John stated that she got ill in 1998 and the HMO doctor treating her had mis-diagnosed her condition and she went into a comatized state in Nov. 1998 for 10 days. She was hospitalized for some 4 months and had sent her home without her anti-biotics. After about 4 months she had emergency surgery and another doctor did exploratory surgery and found that she had a gangrene gall bladder which had poisoned her whole system which rendered her bed-ridden and unable to move.. John states that he has cared for her 24/7 since. He does have a nurse that comes by about 2 times monthly to check on her and a nurses aide comes by 3 times a week to bath Katy and change her bed linens and her clothing. She is awake and her condition remains about the same but unable move.
John states that since she has been bed-ridden that he has had health problems himself, stating he has had both knees replaced and a hip replaced, along with stomach problems. This family has had their "plate full for many years" and in need of our daily prayers. John has done an outstanding job in caring for Katy through the years as he had had his share of health problems also.

DOYLE GREEN: (8-15-07) Doyle's wife, Judy, reports that Doyle was in the hospital for 5 days but was released today. He has to be very careful and watch his white blood cell count to detect a possible infection. They have given him all the antibiotics that they can at this point which will hopefully keep any jnfections away. If all goes well, Doyle will begin another course of chemo Monday, 8-20-07. Continue to pray for Doyle and Judy that all would go well with each of them.

A.P. SMITH - (8-14-07 - A.P. to Forrest) A.P. has been plagued with heart problems for several years. He reports that he had an angiogram on 8-13-07 and the results showed that there is no blockage in his arteries at this time. ROY LECOMPTE - (8-14-07 - Mike Gingrich to Forrest) Ken DeFoor put us in touch with Butch Blackmon (281-373-0060), who is with a chapter of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Chapter and Butch put us in touch with another Blue Knights Motorcycle Chapter person (Mike Gingrich - 281-236-4336) which is the Blue Knights that Roy LeCompte is associated with. In talking with Mike he stated that he was going to visit with Roy today and he had information his injuries were painful, and would call us back once he visited with Roy. (UPDATE - 8-14-07) Mike called us back and stated that his injuries were painful but not quite as serious as prerviously reported in the memo of 8-13-07 indicated, and not life threatening. Stated that Roy"s left shoulder is fractured (not broken), Fractures of the right arm (not broken) 4 broken ribs and 4 fractures of vertebre in his back. It was learned from Mike that Roy will be in the hospital for rehab a few more days until he can walk and be steady on his feet and he will then be released to go home to recuperate. We are so thankful that Roy's injuries are not as serious as once thought although they are very painful. Keep Roy and his family in your daily prayers for rapid and comple healing. Previous Information: 8-11-07 - Forrest) We have been making phone calls to Hermann Hospital attempting to find out the present medical status of Roy LeCompte. We were only told that he is in the SIMU (Surgical Intensive Medical Unit) and that only the family, and only 2 people at a time were permitted in the room with him. We kept leaving messages for some member of his family to give us a call back but no messages were received.
UPDATE - 8-13-07 - After several calls we finally called the SIMU again and asked for a member of the family and Roy's wife (Marivic) came to the phone. She had our phone call transferred into the room and we finally got to talk with Roy. Roy stated that he has several X-rays and MRI done and his injuries are very severe. He has 4 broken ribs, 4 vertebre in his back broken, he has heavy splints on one arm and shoulder and he believes that arm is broken between the elbow and shoulder and also thinks that shoulder is broken. His other arm and shoulder is bandaged and bound up and it is imobile and he can't move it. He also has other scrapes and abrasions, evidently received when he was sliding on the surface of the road at the time of his accident. He is in intense pain all the time due to his injuries and just breathing causes him much pain due to the broken ribs. He cannot hold a phone and his wife has to hold the phone to his ear so as to talk with anyone. He says that doctors come around but seem to be consentrated on the arm that he seems to think is broken. He has not had any surgery at this time and none is scheduled that he knows about. Will update as additional information is known. Please keep Roy in your prayers for his pain to subside and that the doctors can and will start a proceedure that will start the healing of his body.

CHARLES BURTON - 8-3-07 - (Forrest) UPDATE - We received a phone call from Charles and he stated that he was released from the Rehab facility about a week or so ago and was sent home to further recuperate. He is doing very good, still on oxygen and will be until such time as the Drs figure out just why his lungs are not producing enough oxygen for his body.He still has "health care" coming by his home times a week checking on him and seeing to his needs. Lets continue to keep Charles in our daily prayers.
BARBARA JO ELLISON - (8-3-07 - Forrest) - We visited with Barbara Jo by phone today. We learned that she has been in and out of M.D. Anderson Hospital several times since March, both as a patient and out-patient. She has been receiving chemo treatments and going back to the hospital to have her blood checked and being transfused when needed. She is currently staying with her daughter, Stephanie Emmers (713-264-0407) when she is not in the hospital. When she does go to the hospital and is in need of blood, she may need 2 units of blood, BUT due to the shortage of blood at the hospital, they may only give her 1 unit..She is to go back to the hospital tomorrow (8-4-07) for another check up. This fine lady has had her plate full for many months fighting cancer. Please let's all keep her in our daily prayers
DOYLE GREEN: Doyle's wife, Judy, reports that Doyle started at 8AM today preparing for the insertion of his cath. Finally after several stabs at getting his IV started the cath was inserted about 1PM. They then sent to the Deke Slayton Cancer Center where they found his blood pressure too low to start chemo. After two bags of saline they were able to introduce the chemo and they got home around 5:45PM very tired and wore out. Hopefully rest and sleep will come to Doyle this evening and night. They ask that we keep praying for them as they begin their 9 week course of chemo treatments. Let's remember them both tonight in our prayers.
