FAMILY ASSISTANCE COMMITTEE REPORT
October 9, 2008

DANNY J. MCBEE: 9-22-08 (Bob Seickmann to Forrest) Bob reports that Danny will enter Hermann Hospital later today or early in the AM. (9-23-08) for surgery on his stomach cancer.    (Update 10-6-08) I am out of the hospital and at home.I am healing very well,I plan on being at the Reunion on the 18th

thanks for all the thoughts and prayers.

WILLIAM K. FORD: 9-24-08 (from Bill's wife Toni) She reports that Bill was scheduled for back surgery on Friday, 9-26-08. Due to damage from IKE, St. John's hospital could not do the surgery so they tried to transfer him to Clear Lake Med. Center but Bill's cardiologist vetoed that procedure because the Med. Center facility has no ICU unit. Bill has a weak heart with a pacemaker, his blood was too thin and he has breathing difficulty. They are waiting for St. John's Hospital to get operational again and make their 4th attempt. UPDATE: 10-1-08 Forrest received e-mail info that Bill was at home and called him. Bill stated that he was still dealing with shortness of breath, fluid on lungs, congestive heart failure and legs & ankles swelling but being medicated for this condition. UPDATE: 10-4-08: Foehner visited with Bill on phone and Bill stated that as soon as he could get clearance from his cardiologist, they would likely try another attempt at back surgery. He obviously is frustrated at the obstacles that keep coming up but he still managed to a positive attitude and said he appreciated all the prayers and that we needed to keep them coming to help him through all of his medical problems. We will continue to update.

A. P. SMITH: 10-1-08 Forrest received a phone call from A.P. and he reported that he is doing great, eating good and stated that he had not felt this good in some time. Keep him in your daily prayers that his good health and well being continues.

EDKER J. MIKEAL: 10-4-08 Foehner visited with E.J. by phone and found him to be somewhat better. You will recall that he has been dealing with a bed sore for many months and had him hospitalized on more than one occasion. He indicated that it is better now. He is mobile with the aid of his walker, cane or wheelchair is necessary. He does not travel too far from the house as the ride in a vehicle irritates his wound. Continue to pray for E. J. that he would continue to recover and heal. Give him a call and lift him up.

BENNY & CAROLYN JORDY: 10-4-08 Visited with Benny by phone and found him at home still fighting his emphysema but thankful that he survived the storm without any damage but without power for 7-8 days spending that time at his daughter's home in Tomball. Carolyn is still at Woodlands Health Center recovering from her stroke. She is not mobile but seems to be eating better and going to rehab regularly. Please continue to pray for Benny & Carolyn to bring them through these medical problems. (Foehner)

JOE B. DAVIS: 10-4-08 Spoke to J.B. by phone and he stated that he was feeling real well and anticipated be at the meeting next Thursday. Due to his cancer, he is fed through a tube but has held his weight and is without pain or discomfort. Please pray that J.B. would regain his good health. (Foehner)

NELL NEELY: 10-4-08 Visited with Johnny by phone and he reports that Nell is at home doing better. She had speech therapy and is talking fairly well and they are providing physical therapy now and she gets around in a wheel chair and with support she is walking about 20 steps each therapy session. Please pray that Nell continues to improve and recover. (Foehner)

J. D. SPANN: 10-4-08 Talked to J. D. and he reports that he has fully recovered from his quadruple by pass surgery some 4 months ago. He is, however, lost about 70 percent vision in his right eye. He is traveling to the Houston Medical Center where they administer injections into that eye in an effort to save it. He stated that this vision problem has kept him off of his motorcycle, in fact, he has not driven a vehicle in the last 10 months. Remember J. D. in your daily prayers as he continues his treatments. (Foehner)

Charlie Munro:  As we were prearing to send this report forward for publication, we we notified that fellow member, Charlie Munto, passed away yesterday 10-4-08.  Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and friends as they mourn the loss of their loved one.
