Barbara was working as the 911 operator for the S/O in Hillsboro County, and had a heart attack on 5-11-08. She is currently home recuperating and will have a check up in a couple of weeks and hopefully she will be released to go back to work at the S/O. Please keep Daryl and Barbara in your daily prayers for continued good health. Nell Neely- (Wife of HPROA Member, Johnny Neely) (UPDATE) - Johnny has advised that Nell developed pneumonia and had to be moved to Intensive Care over the weekend. JOHNNY R. THORNTON - (6-23-08 - Fred Eichholtz - Forrest) Received information from Fred that Johnny was having a problem with his vision. After he was admitted to the Methodist Hospital Medical Center in San Antonio, doctors determined that he had a mass on the frontal lobe of his brain. He then had an MRI which revealed he had a tumor pressing against his optic nerve afftecting his vision. There are no tumors showing up in the neck or spine at this time. Johnny is to have surgery at the Methodist Hospital Medical Center in San Antonio on Tuesday, July l, 2008. He is to be at the Hospital at 5 A.M. on July 1, at which time the doctors will run another test to actually "pin-point" the exact location of the tumor. Please keep Johnny and his family in your daily prayers.
GARY BROWN - (6-23-08 - Fred Eichholtz - Forrest) Fred reports that Gary had surgery for prostate cancer on June 13, 2008. Drs felt that they had gotten all the cancer. No other information at this time. Keep Gary and his family in your prayers for a complete and rapid recovery.

She had not eaten for the past 3 days, could not keep anything on her stomach, not even water. Doctors seem to think that she has an infection somewhere in the stomach area. She is to under-go extensive test tonight (Monday and Tuesday 6-23 and 6-24-08. She is still loosing weight. Bennie is hopeful and prayful that the doctors can find what this problen is and correct it soon. Carolyn and Bennie both have had their plates full for a long time, Please keep them both and their family in your daily Prayers. MORRIS SHOFNER: 6-21-08 We just visited with Morris by phone. He had ankle replacement on April 28th, in the hospital for 3 days and then went to a rehab facility on Eldridge for 6 weeks. He was finally released yesterday and is now at home walking with the aid of a walker. He can now put some weight on the ankle but it will be 4 weeks before he can walk without the walker if all goes well. He is happy to be home and in good spirits. The ankle was replaced due to severe arthritis and he is looking at knee replacements once the ankle heals. Give Morris a call and lift him up and keep him in your daily prayers.
Nelson Foehner, FACLAMAR KIMBLE - (6-23-08 10:30 AM - Forrest) Talked with Lamar and he stated that he is up and getting around really well since having his prostate removed on 6-10-08. If he keeps improving, he intends to make the Crockett reunion. Keep Lamar in your daily prayers.
JOYCE DOWDY - (6-23-08 - Forrest) (Wife of HPROA Member Robt. F. Dowdy) Talked with Bob and found that Joyce is doing some better. He has been having to bring Joyce to Houston from their home in Fairfield, TX (163 miles one way) two times each week for many months for cancer treatment. The cancer may not be cureable but is treatable. The cancer Dr has given them 20 days "off" from coming to Houston for the treatment until Monday, 6-30-08. Tests, including a urine test, will be give her on Monday when here just to see what "the next step will be". It usually takes about 3 days to get the results back on these test. It seems that the urine test is of the utmost importance in the diagnosing the progress she is making. Bob is hopeful that they are about to get the cancer in remission. Please keep Joyce and Bob in your daily prayers.
MARVIN SEBER - (6-23-08 - Forrest) Talked with Tommie (wife) who stated that his knee replacement was doing really great and was thinking about having the other knee replaced. BUT on about May 30, 2008, he tripped over :something" and fell hitting on his right side He complained of much pain on the right side of his chest and was taken to Tomball Regional Hospital. X-rays were taken and other tests were done and finally they found that he had 2 fractured ribs on the right side and that his left lung had collapsed approx. 45%. A tube was inserted in and the air was drained from around the lung. Later, when the tube was removed and the lung "pumped" back up. He is doing pretty good at this time and please keep Marvin and Tommie in your daily prayers.

She is having an angiogram later today and other tests to determine what their options are at this point. As a result of the stroke she is paralyzed and is unable to talk. G.A. Brown (6-18-08) Just to let everyone know that after 9 hours of surgery and two hours in recovery on Friday, I got out of the hospital on Monday evening. Now we are dealing with the other pleasantries of the prostate cancer surgery. The doctor was very optimistic that all the cancer was removed, but will have to wait for the biopsy to be sure. Keep Ray in your prayers for complete and rapid healing..
BARBARA CARLTON: Daryl reports that Barbara is getting better each day but still needs our prayers. In our initial report of Barbara's heart attack we listed a wrong zip code and an error in Daryl's e-mail address mostly due to a faulty operator on this end. Their address is 802 Crest Top Trail, Valrico, Florida 33594 and correct e-mail address is vtxdaryl@yahoo.com. Continue to pray for Barbara and give them a shout or drop her a card.

LAMAR KIMBLE: Bobby Foster reported that Lamar was to have surgery within the next couple of days. We contacted Lamar at his home and he reported that he was scheduled for surgery Saturday at 7AM for removal of his prostate. Tests revealed that he had an aggressive cancer in the prostate but all other tests and body scans would indicate that it was likely isolated in the prostate. He will probably be hospitalized for 2-3 days hopefully out maybe Monday. Please pray for Lamar that his surgery would go well, recovery complete with total remission of the cancer (Update 13) We visited with Lamar by telephone and found him at home recovery from prostate removal surgery. He reported that the surgeon was confident that he was able to remove all of the cancerous tissue although the pathology test results were not back yet. Lamar stated that he had some pain or discomfort when he walked but he was not complaining just thankful he was able to come home and was recovering as expected. Please continue to pray for Lamar that his recovery would be full and cancer free.

Subject: JUST WHAT CONDITION MY CONDITION IS IN
I AM SENDING THIS OUT TO ALL MY FRIENDS WHOSE EMAIL ADDRESS I HAVE. SOME OF YOU KNOW AND SOME OF YOU DON'T, THAT I DISCOVERED I HAD KIDNEY CANCER ON 4-28-08. I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO GET INTO MD ANDERSON(THANKS TO MY SISTER JUDY AND HER HUSBAND DR. JIM HUSSEY). MY LEFT KIDNEY, TUMOR AND A FEW OTHER PARTS WERE REMOVED ON MAY 9TH. I CAME HOME ON THE 15TH.
THE PATHOLOGY WAS NOT GOOD, IT WAS TECHNICALLY A STAGE 4 CANCER AS IT HAD SPREAD TO ONE LYMPH NODE AND HAD INVADED THE VENA CAVA. RENAL CELL CARCINOMA IS ALSO CLASSIFIED BY SOMETHING CALLED THE FUHRMAN SCALE, 1 BEING THE EASIEST TO CONTAIN AND TREAT, 4 BEING THE MOST AGGRESSIVE AND HARDEST TO TREAT AND CONTAIN, I HAD A 4. KIDNEY CANCER DOES NOT RESPOND TO RADIATION TREATMENT AND DOES NOT RESPOND WELL TO ANY KNOWN CHEMO THERAPY. THERE IS A TEST BEING DONE NOW AT MD ANDERSON ON A NEW CHEMO BUT I DO NOT QUALIFY TO PARTICIPATE(BECAUSE IT PENETRATED THE VENA CAVA?).
NOW THE GOOD NEWS, I JUST GOT BACK FROM DR., SPENT ALL DAY YESTERDAY BEING POKED, PRODDED AND SCANNED. AS OF TODAY I AM CANCER FREE. I WILL BE GOING BACK EVERY 3 MONTHS FOR THE NEXT YEAR TO MAKE SURE IT STAYS THAT WAY. I HAVE YET TO BE ACTUALLY SICK FROM THIS. THE ONLY SYMPTOM I HAD WAS BLOOD IN MY URINE ONCE ON 4-24-08 AND THE ONLY PAIN I HAVE HAD IS FROM THE SURGERY AND THAT IS JUST SORENESS. I AM SOMEWHAT LIMITED ON WHAT I CAN DO AND PROBABLY WILL BE NOT TRY TO GO BACK TO WORK FOR ANOTHER MONTH. I WILL BE RETIRING IN A FEW MORE MONTHS.
I WANT TO THANK ALL OF THOSE WHO HAVE CALLED, WRITTEN, CAME TO VISIT AND BROUGHT OR SENT GIFTS. IT REALLY HELPS KNOWING I HAVE SO MANY GOOD FRIENDS WHO HAVE OFFERED THEIR PRAYERS, GOOD WISHES AND ASSISTANCE. IT WORKED!!!!!!!! PLEASE KEEP IT UP.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL.JOHNNY BONDS
PS: TO ALL THE GUYS AND GALS AT THE OFFICE WHO CHIPPED IN ON THE GIFT BASKET, SPECIAL THANKS, IT WAS GREAT, I'M STILL WATCHING JOHN WAYNE MOVIES.......
BARBARA CARLTON: We received an email message this evening from member Daryl Carlton who reports that his wife, Barbara, suffered a heart attack 2 weeks ago. She now has two stents and is now at home recovering. Daryl and Barbara moved to Florida when he retired some years ago from HPD and they now reside in Valrico, Fla which is a suburb of Tampa. Daryl reports that Barbara was at work at the time she had the attack and she was working for 911 at the Sheriff's office. She is still weak but improving and will start cardiac rehab in a few weeks. Daryl is fully retired now and will be taking care of her. For those who might want to send them an e-mail the address is vtexdaryl@yahoo.com and their mailing address is 802 Crest Top Trail, Valrico, Fla. 33511 if you care to send a card or letter. Please remember Barbara in your prayers that she might come to full recovery.

ELAINE FOLTZ - 5-15-08 (Larry to Forrest) Visited also with Larry and he stated that Elaine was feeling bad due to not having her chemo as scheduled BUT that her blood platelettes were so low that he had to stop the chemo. He also stated that Monday, 5-19-05 that she will start a new type of chemo and will received a treatment each week..Elaine is going to have to have some blood and Larry is going to find out all the particulars on her receiving blood from donors. When this process is finalized he will let us know and asked that then we put out an appeal for blood donors in her behalf. As always keep Elaine and Larry in your prayers. (UPDATE 6-1-08) Just a note to update everyone on Elaine's progress. She is now taking chemo weekly and seems to be doing well with it. Her blood platelet count and white blood cell are remaining high enough for to continue with this alternate chemo procedure. She is tired but other than that she is doing well. We want to thank everyone for their continued prayers and support and we wish everyone who is dealing with trying times to just remember that someone else is in charge and you must have faith that he knows what he is doing. We wish everyone good health and a happy summer and look forward to seeing everyone in Crocket in June.
God Bless
Larry and Elaine Foltz
