  Roy Lecompte's BBQ
Event Recap & Pictures
Roy Lecompte had his get together at his 40 acres in Alvin this past Sunday. Roy had two roasted pigs, and ordered barbeque from Harvey Triggs in Humble (Harvey is a retired policeman if you remember the name). The catering truck was supposed to be there and setup to eat by 12:00 noon, and man did Roy get upset upon learning they were running late. Later they promised to arrive by 2:00 PM, but got lost. After several calls from Roy to Triggs, they told Roy since it was their mistake, there would be no charge for the catering! The barbeque finally arrived a little after 2:00 PM.

He always has a bunch of motorcyclist come called the Blue Angles. There were probably about 50 of them present. HPROA Board of Director Members Bill Elkins, Jim Ashby, and their wives were present. There were quite a few officers there, but not as many as I had expected (approximately 100).

The helicopters from HPD, 53 Fox, and 71 Fox, came by and visited a little while. One of them flew sideways past the building. That was weird.

Some other friends of Roy’s brought an Army 6 X 6 Reo, which is for sale, but I did not see the price. Also present were two Jeeps, one had a machine gun mounted on it, which was fired into the field that day. Not sure if it was live ammo or not. Two friends flew in on their ultra lights, and two more came in with their Pipercubs.

Some left when the food did not get there on time, but most stayed. It was a little humid there as there was not much wind circulating through the building. We did though have some light rain, which helped keep the heat down. He also had a singer who was fantastic. He could really sing and play the guitar.

All in all, I think a good time was had by all who attended. Roy does all of this on his own, so his friends and fellow officers can have a good time. I do not know of anyone else that does this.
