CHARLES BURTON - (4-15-08 - Forrest) Received info from Ben Bashaw that Charley is still in pretty bad condition at home in Oklahoma City. We called Charley and he stated that in the past 3 months that he has been in the ER 3 different times. The last trip to the ER  tests indicated an irregular heart beat and his feet, legs and ankles are swollen due to retaining fluids. He is on blood thinner medication and also very short of breath. Also has only one-half capacity in both lungs. Going back to the doctor on 4-22-08 to see if the blood thinners are helping him. He is still on oxygen all the time. Keep Charley in your daily prayers. UPDATE -(4-22-08 - 5 PM - Forrest) Received a phone call from     Charley and reports that he went to the doctor today and took a "ton of tests". His doctor was really pleased with the outcome of all the tests. Charley has been feeling good for about a week and still on cuminden (blood thinner), heart rhythm has been a little off but now back in good shape. Says he has not heard from his lung doctor but hopes to hear from him soon. Please continue to keep Charley in your daily prayers.

CHESTER MASSEY: (4-16-08) We visited with Chester and Ruth yesterday afternoon at the Hampton on Wingate which is a block off of E. T.C. Jester and the North Loop. We found Chester all kicked back in his recliner feeling well.  He is still a little unsteady on his feet but he getting around with the aid of a walker.  He has a 30 minute exercise session each day and he feels that he is getting stronger as time goes by.  His memory is fading but he does recall some things quiet well.  I felt that he enjoyed our visit and I'm sure he would enjoy yours if only for a few minutes. Try and get by to see him and continue to pray for both Chester and Ruth.

OSCAR FARRELL::  (Nelson and Forrest - 4-16-08)  We also visited Oscar yesterday afternoon at Tomball Regional Hospital, Room 340.  Oscar was admitted last Saturday with kidney stone attack.  They removed those and then found a couple of bleeding ulcers.  The doctors were able to stop the bleeding ulcers and gave him two units of blood.  His physician came in while we visited and put Oscar on a regular diet, said his blood count was at a good level and if all went well throughout the night, he could likely be released to go home on Wednesday.  We are thankful that Oscar is recovering quickly and pray that he continues to do well and regains his good health.

SHARON SYBERT (4-18-08 - Phillip Sybert to Forrest) Phil reports that Sharon was admitted into Bayshore Hospital in Pasadena. for a flu like condition on 4-16-08. During the past 10 plus years, Sharon has had 3 cervical lamenectomy, lower lumbar back surgery, cancer surgery to her left shin and skin cancers on several parts of her body, Gall bladder surgery in Oct 2007 and this evolved into renal failure (kidney) which she is currently hospitalized for. She is constantly under going test, medications, to make sure all blood and body functions are functioning properly and she is undergoing some text today. Phil stated that they intended to go to the HPOPS seminar at the PD Academy on 4-19-08, but it doubtful that they will attend due to her being hospitalized. Sharon's plate has been pretty full for the past 10 plus years and Phil asked that we all include both of them in our daily prayers and for a speedy and complete recovery for Sharon..

WILLIAM "BILL" HAMBY: (4-18-08 - "Bill" Hamby - to Nelson)   Just got off the phone talking to Bill who is still in the hospital in Huntsville, Alabama.  Bill is still all wired up with IV"s and catheters but he appears to be rebounding.  He said he was better but still has a long way to go, will have to learn how to walk again when he is able to get out of bed.  His only request is that we all keep him in our prayers and we assured him that we would keep those coming.  The contact phone that we have is his wife's cell phone,  Sharon, and she is usually with him during the day, 256-603-2324 so why don't you give him a call and lift him up. He is still very sick but getting better.

JOYCE DOWDY -(4-22-08 - 8 A.M. - R.F. Dowdy to Forrest) Received phone call from HPROA member Robert F. "B ob" Dowdy. Stated that his wife Joyce, has had cancer for the past 8 years. Her cancer started in the elbow bone and she had surgery and her elbow was replaced with a plastic one. Over a period of time she had skin cells removed, refined and replaced. Bob and Joyce live in Fairfield, TX (162 miles one way from their home to M.D. Anderson Hospital) and he has to bring her to M.D. Anderson twice each week for treatment. Every so often they take a urine test, and each 2 weeks, she gets blood tests to see what progress is happening to her cancer that has since spread. Her cancer was once in remission but has returned. Please keep Joyce and Bob in your daily prayers.

PAUL BEEMAN (4-23-08 - Forrest) Checked on Paul as he was in the hospital in  Lufkin, TX in January 2008 with pneumonia in his right lung. Stated that his wife Maria also took pneumonia at the same time but in her left lung but she was not hospitalized. They both got pneumonia shots and both got pneumonia, but they did NOT get the flu shots and did NOT get the flu either. Both are doing pretty good now.

CAROLYN JORDY - (4-23-08 - Bennie Jordy to Forrest) Bennie stated that he got to bring Carolyn home from the Woodlands Health Care Center, 4650 S. Panther CREEK on 4-13-08 for 3 hours. Stated their children came over and they all had a good visit. Carolyn seemed to enjoy being at home and recognized home surroundings. Stated that her attitude is some better since her home visit and has been able to move her left arm a little better. She suffered a major stroke on 2-1-08 which completely paralized her.  Bennie himself is very short winded, exhausted and tires quickly and still on oxygen. Please keep both Bennie and Carolyn in your daily prayers.

JOE ECKENRODE
- (4-23-08 - Forrest) Visited also with Joe by phone and he was hospitalized in Memorial Hospital in Lufkin, TX in January 2008, being treated for a blood clot in his lung that came from his legs and that treatment caused him other problems. His Drs put a filter in the aorta artery near the groin area to keep any other clots from getting to the lungs. He states that he is doing pretty good now, BUT STATES HIS WIFE (Edwanna) was admitted to the Memorial Hospital in Lufkin, TX, 3 days ago. He stated that all he knows at this time is "that she has a heart problem". He will keep us updated on her progress. Please remember Joe and Edwanna in your daily prayers.      Submitted by Forrest W. Turbeville - FAC

Charles Ford (5-1-2008) wanted everyone to know he is doing much better. He is currently at Sugar Land Rehabilitation Hospital for intense physical therapy. Therapy begins around 8:30 a.m. through 11:30 a.m. and resumes around 1:30 p.m. through 3 p.m. Discharge date

HARRY HALL - (5-2-08 - Forrest) Harry reports that (wife) Virginia, is having arthritis, knee, and stomach problems. He says that he now does most of the driving and that is to the doctors and grocery store. Other than the mentioned ailments, they are doing pretty good. Says to tell all hello.

RICHARD L. LINEBERGER - (5-2-08 - Forrest) We have been reporting on Richard and his health matters over the years. His ill health began in about 1990, with prostate problems, which later developed into cancer. He fought this battle for 2 plus years. He has had several strokes and many heart attacks. His heart is still in very "sad" shape and getting worse. If something upsets him, his heart really gets eratic, skips beats and almost stops. He is getting 4 shots and a "hand full" of pills daily. Most of the medication he is on is for his heart condition and blood pressure. He has in the last 3 to 4 months has developed a "trembling and/or shaking" situation, and Evelyn (wife) states that his "trembling and/or shaking" resembles the way a person with Parkinson-Disease might act along with "rolling his tongue" around in his mouth and when this happens, he is unable to communicate for a while. This "trembling/shaking" does not last long at a time. Evelyn also reports that his mind and thinking processes are beginning to deterrioate at a much faster rate also. Evelyn states that she is appreciative for all the thoughts and prayers. Let us continue to keep both Richard and Evelyn in our daily prayers as "their plate has been full for a long time".

BETTY MADDOX: (5-05-08 - Nelson)  Wife of J.W. Maddox is in the Garden Terrace Rehab Center recovering from the amputation of her right leg approximately 2 weeks ago. We visited with Betty this morning and she seems to be in good spirits considering the loss of her leg at the knee and a long period of rehab yet to go..  The loss of the leg was due to peripheral vascular disease (poor circulation) and the other bad news is that her left leg is also similarly affected to some degree.  She also has some heart problems having had 3 stents prior to the amputation. Betty has been either hospitalized or in a rehab facility for some 7 months now but still maintains a good attitude. She said she has enough phones calls coming in at the present time but gave us her address at 7887 Cambridge, Houston, 77054 so why not pick up a get well card and send it her way and send up your prayers that she might be relieved of any pain and that other health problems can be treated and resolved with medication.

THINGS THAT I BELIEVE

I believe - That we don't have to change friends if we believe that friends change.

I believe - That you should leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

I believe - That you can keep going long after you think you can't.

I believe - That its taking me much longer to be the person that I really want to be.
