Discussion regarding Chef Andrew Steiner's interest in hosting a fundraiser for HPROA.
Discussion regarding HPROA ad in the Badge and Gun.
Comparison between HPROA members and the list of retirees provided by HPOPS indicated we have approximately 1,000 prospective members.
Discussion regarding the HPROA recruiting tri-fold.
Executive Director Bill Elkin:
Pension at 3.43 Billion.
136 retired in 2011; 3 retired in December, 14 in January, and 6 scheduled for February.
Elkin and Lawson went to the 100 Club to discuss Defined Pension Plans and the threat to those plans with other members of the 100 Club.
Elkin was elected to the Texans for Secure Retirement Board of Directors. There is approximately $44,000 in the PAC, most from Houston. A December meeting discussed public information campaigns and the 1 million to 1.5 million it will take for a 12-month campaign.
Discussion regarding 2012 Budget. Proposed adjustments for a balanced budget included the scholarship program, legal services, door prizes, reunions and Retired Badge typesetter.

The City's Budget Task Force is looking for ways to cut the City's budget, including pension contributions. We will keep monitoring their activities along with HPOPS and HPOU.
New Business:
Discussion regarding proposed donations.
Approved eight new member applications: Enrique Alvarado, Elvin Calix, Richard Benavides, Raymond Matlock, Bobbie Miller, Clyde Rooke, Jose Selvera and Patti Lynn Matson.
