Edward A. Thomas, “Mr. T”, 95, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2015. A member of the HPROA, Officer Thomas joined the historical Police Academy Class #1 on January 12, 1948. He earned the distinguished honor of being the longest serving peace officer in Texas, serving over 63 years. During his career, he served at the Central Division and the Northeast Division and retired on July 23, 2011 while last assigned to the Crime Analysis Division. He is survived by his daughter, Edna Kay Thomas-Garner; sister, Lillie D. Harrison; Niece, Vernita Allen and nephew, Tommy Moss of California. Before joining the department, Officer Thomas was a soldier in North Africa and in Europe and took part in the Battle of the Bulge.

Funeral services will be held at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, 3826 Wheeler Avenue, Houston, Texas 77004, telephone number (713) 748-5240, on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be held before the funeral service from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
