Thought I should comment on the set-up the City of Houston uses for those of us looking for a job and need verification of our previous employment as Police officers. After repeated phone calls and emails, including the HPROA, I still have not been able to find any place where I can have an employeer call or otherwise to verify I am a retired officer. I called Human Relations and was told to call the city of houston which I did. They gave me a website www.theworknumber.com and told me to have them go there to verify the information they needed. I went to this site and found it soliciting companies for a fee to check empoyees and never was able to get my own information. I left an email at the site provided and they never responded to me. This is frustrating to say the least. I don't want a possible employeer coming up against a wall like I did and not get hired. Can anyone there give me a Human to talk to that can help me?
