Robert Francis Swearingen, passed away May 20, 2002. He was born in Beaumont, Texas on January 29, 1924 to Edith and Robert E. Swearingen.
He retired as a Lieutenant from the Houston Police Department after 36 years of service.
He was a lifetime member of the Houston Orchid Society, and also a member of the American Orchid Society.
Lt. Swearingen served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corp. in the Pacific Theater was a member of the Mason Temple 4, AF&AM.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Helen; daughter, Betty Anne Haass; son, Arthur L. (Sonny) Swearingen; grandchildren, Michael E. Jackson of Plainville, MA., Marsette Guererro and husband Benny, Mark Haass and wife Deidra; great grandchildren, Monaca Nabulsy and husband Saher, Micah A. Jackson, Jillian T. Jackson, Samuel W. Jackson, Robert W. Haass, Wayne M. Haass, Emily A. Haass, Ryan T. Moye and Tyler Guererro; great-great granddaughter, Layla M. Nabulsy; sister, Isabell Smith and husband J.S. of Alvin, TX; sister-in-law, Georgia Waggoner and husband Cecil C. of Morris, OK.
Services will be at 12:30pm Friday, May 24, 2002 at Earthman Resthaven Chapel, 13102 North Freeway (IH-45N) with Houston Police Department Chaplain Edwin Davis officiating.
Interment will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery. (281)443-0063
