Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Glenn E. Abbitt, born September 27, 1929 passed away on January 6, 2002.
Preceded in death by his parents Gus and Flora, brother; Howard B. Abbitt, grandson; Justin Moses.
A U.S. Marine Corp veteran, he retired from the Houston Police Department on September 7, 2001, after serving over thrity-eight years. At the time of his retirement he assigned to the Southeast Division. He joined the department on May 20, 1963 entering Police Academy Class 28.
Glenn will be greatly missed by his wife of 48 years Betty Abbitt, son; Glenn Jr. and his guide dog Gallagher, daughers; Sally Cornelius and husband Jerry, Melanie Moses and husband Raymond.
Grandchildren; Rob and Ryan Pearce, Jan and Trey Cornelius and Sam and Sally Moses, nieces, nephews, cousin and many longtime friends.
Family will receive friends from 5-8 pm Wednesday, January 9th at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 3:00pm Thursday, January 10, 2002 at Forest Park Lawndale Family Chapel with Interment to follow in Forest Park Lawdale Cemetery.
Glenn was dedicated to his career as a Patrolman with police department, loved spending time with his family and took pleasure in taking the time to care for stray animals. He was known to carry a bag of cat food n his patrol car and rendered medical care if needed.
In memory of Glenn, his family request his friends to open their arms to a needy animal.
