One  More Time !!   The Crockett Reunion !!

The 19th, that's right 19th, Crockett Reunion is now History..and a very large time was had by all.

We had 172 Retirees and guests present, another fine meal by Harvey Trigg, door prizes, silent auction and a whole lot of "stories" told and the weather couldn't have been any better.

HPROA president, Jerry DeFoor opened things with a short, really it was short, welcome then introduced our speaker.
Mr. Frank Minton, President of the Crockett Chamber of Commerce, welcomed everyone and told a story about my two "Piney Woods" characters, Leroy and Clyde, who were also present.
Ike Eickenhorst gave the Invocation and then everyone lined up for the Bar-B-Q.

After the meal we had our drawing for door prizes..The first name drawn, and not by me, was Dot Smith. She won $25, at least she claims it was her ticket and not mine. Sharon Felchek won $25.
Vernon Baker won $50, Regene Baker won $50, Hazel Seickman won $25 and Buster Gordy won $25..We had several "tote bags" and 2 movies donated by Jim & Dorothy Ashby and a C.D. by the "Back Porch Band" with Buster Gordy's wife, Karen featured on fiddle.

I was real proud of all the guys and gals who helped with decorating the Civic Center. It looked great. The silent auction was a big hit again this year and I want to thank EVERYONE who donated items..we made $1260 for our Family Assistance Committee. I think this is a record..Betty Rich and Jo Ann Eickenhorst worked the silent auction and ladies, we thank you. Those who helped Dot with the decorating and "table moving" were Jerry & Carole DeFoor, Steve & Vicky Rayne, Ike & Jo Ann Eickenhorst, Vernetta Walker, Nettie Nix, and Tut & Betty Rich.

I also want to thank Richard & Cathy Buckles for pitching in and helping clean up the kitchen. I hope I have not forgotten to mention anyone but I seem to "disremember" more now than I did 20 years ago.

Oh, by the way our "bikers" finally made it to the reunion and Fred Walschburger on his antique Harley was the FIRST to arrive..It seems that Marcia Maddox broke a bolt on her bike and had to double up with Doug the rest of the way..the rest of the group said they stayed to help but I kinda figure Fred just went off and left them.

While I was writing this report I got phone call from my old buddy , Bob Serres. He and his wife had driven up to Crockett for the Reunion..There was just ONE problem--This was SUNDAY and the reunion was SATURDAY..I told Bob this probably wouldn't get in the paper, unless the devil made me do it..He reminded me he knew where I lived..but I have moved since the last time he was up here....We love you Bob but.. Dot dared me....

Next Reunion--Hill Country, Lady Bird Park --Fredericksburg--Oct. 21st.

See you there, Chuck <Click Here for Images>
