  Crockett Reunion Recap
Recap & Image Gallery
It was a beautiful day up here in the Piney Woods for the Crockett Reunion. Folks started coming in about 8:30 and kept on coming till 11:30. There were, at last count, 162 retirees & spouses.

The reunion was opened with the pledge to the flag, led by Bill Elkins.

Chuck Smith welcomed everyone and recognized Floyd Nettles for the outstanding job him and his committee were doing adding members. We now have around 1125 members in the HPROA. Special recognition was given to David Hadley and Pat McGill who made the reunion even though they were ailing. I know I missed some and I apologize for that.

HPROA President Ken Defoor recognized the surviving spouse's and the first timers to the reunion.

Executive Director Bill Elkin brought everyone up to date on the meeting with the Mayor and the City's win on the OPT-OUT amendment.

HPOPS member Ralph Marsh explained the possible effects of the OPT-OUT win for the City of Houston on our Pension System. Folks you had better get to know your State Representatives and Senators, you may have to ask for their backing in order for us to keep all our Pension Benefits.

Charles Butler gave the invocation and we moved to the "chow line". Harvey Trigg's crew did a fine job and with four serving lines things went along smoothly. The food was great and there was plenty of it.

The Silent Auction took in $458 for our Family Asst. Committee. Vernetta Walker and Sharon Matthews did a real fine job with the Auction.

Door prizes were given out and I failed to write down the names of all the winners so you know what that means. Yep, I forgot them, it's not age it's MILEAGE.

Our "unofficial" Official Photographers, Dan and Margery Doetterl were able to make the reunion but were still a little under the weather and were unable to get all the pictures they wanted to take. They said look out next time.

Dot & I had so much help with the reunion and I want to say "Thanks" to all that helped us. There were just too many to mention, and you know me, I would leave someone out.

If you didn't make the Reunion you missed a great time.

Hill Country Reunion information will be posted soon!
