Determination of Quorum: A quorum was present.

Treasurer’s Report and Minutes of Previous Meeting: 
Motion by Jim Ashby, 2nd by Matt Potell to approve the Minutes and the Treasurer’s Report as printed.  Voice Vote.  Motion Carried.

There will be a number of political candidates and HPOPS candidates at the business meeting.

Discussion regarding program set up by HPD officers to provide plaques to each law enforcement agency in Texas that had an officer killed in the line of duty.  Voluntary donations are taken and given to HPROA member Rick Ashwood to make a plaque for that fallen officer and present it to their Department.   Jim Hudson: (9-9-18 rh) Jim advised that he has been undergoing pool therapy and is gaining strength in his legs, but still is not completely mobile.  He is now able to walk to his front door using a walker.  He also is able to get into and out of a car and into and out of his wheelchair.  Jim attended and the September 13 meeting and thoroughly enjoyed seeing old friends and they also enjoyed seeing him.  God does answer prayers. Family Assistance Update
October 2018
Ray Smith:(10-10-18 nf) We visited with Ray earlier today by phone and he reports that he was hospitalized last Thursday and underwent an appendectomy Friday AM.
Normally a 30 minute surgery turned into a 3 hour surgery, appendix not in it's normal position with other issues complicated matters but he came through it and was released from hospital Tuesday and now at home recovering. Prayers please for Ray.

Wayne Lundy:
(10-8-2018 nf) Roy Slay forwarded this info:"Retired HPD Sgt. Wayne Lunday was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor last month. Wayne underwent  brain surgery and the doctors were able to remove only part of the tumor and no further medical treatment is planned. Wayne is now settling in at home with his family and he would love to hear from his friends." [More]

UPDATE:  Retirees and/or spouses are invited to the seminar.  No advance registration is necessary.
HPROA Board Member Anthony Kivela has reached out to the City of Houston in order to determine
if this seminar can somehow 7aptured for those who are out-of-town who are unable to travel in for the
presentation.  The city has agreed to post a PowerPoint presentation of what is presented at the seminar
on their HR website after the presentation is given.
